This documentation is for the WooCommerce PDF Watermark plugin.


From the WordPress admin dashboard:

  1. Hover over the menu option Plugins, then click on Add New.
  2. Press the Upload Plugin button.
  3. Press Choose File and select the file.
  4. Press Open, then press Install Now.
  5. If the load worked, press Activate Now.

If you want to install by uploading directly to your site:

  1. On your local machine unzip the file.
  2. Log in to your site using FTP or SFTP.
  3. Upload the extracted folder to the wp-content/plugins/ directory on your site.
  4. Go to the WordPress Plugins dashboard and Activate the plugin.

PDF Watermark Settings

In the WordPress dashboard, hover over WooCommerce and click on Settings. Next select the Watermark tab.

In the License Key field add the license key sent in the order confirmation email. This will activate notifications of new versions and automatic updates.

Adding a PDF Watermark

To add a watermark to your downloadable PDF, first go to the Edit Product page for your product. Make sure the Downloadable option is checked in the Product Data box.

Next click on the Watermark tab. Configure the following settings then Update the product.

1. Enable Watermark – If this box is checked the watermark will be applied to the PDF when the customer downloads the file from their My Account page or from the links in their order confirmation email.

2. Watermark text – This is the text that will be applied to the PDF files. You can enter static text or use one of the available variables:

{DATEDOWNLOAD} Date and time the file was downloaded 2015-01-01 10:02:05

{ORDERID} Order number 1102
{COPIES} Number of items in the order 4

3. Watermark positions – This is the location on the page where the watermark will appear. You can select one or many positions. There are six available positions:

Left Top, Center Top, Right Top, Left Bottom, Center Bottom, Right Bottom

4. Color – This is the font color for the watermark. There are four colors available:

Black, White, Grey, Red

5. Display on pages – These are the pages where the watermark will be applied. There are three available options:

All (All pages of the PDF), First (First page of the PDF only), Last (Last page of the PDF only)

6. Watermark size – This is the font size of the watermark in pixels. (Ex: 10, 12, 14)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do hyperlinks in PDFs still work on watermarked files?

Answer: Yes, hyperlinks still work after PDFs are watermarked.

Does this plugin add watermarks to other file types other than PDF? (Ex: .mobi, .jpg, .psd )

Answer: Right now only PDF file types are supported for adding watermarks.
